Translating to “lost valley’”, this is a protected area and is located 13 km from Dullstroom. It is one of the few places in South Africa that breed all three of the world’s endangered cranes – the Blue Crane, the Wattled Crane and the Crowned Crane.

The area is also home to the bald ibis, larks, finches, ground woodpecker, cape rock thrush, steenbok, carcal, wildebeest and many more fascinating animals. Also worth noting are the great number of butterflies which are attracted to the variety of indigenous flowers that grow here.
